Cruise Line Blues

Written By - Jay & Bobsy Bob Rougeaux.
Performed By - Big Bessie Mae Rogers & The Rougeaux Brothers.

CRUISE LINE BLUES was written about their good friend and renowned hell raiser Marty “Flash” Pittman. The lyrics lament Marty’s departure overseas, though strangely, the tempo is upbeat. The track was produced by the wonderful Mr. Briat and features Big Bessie Mae Rogers, the brothers half sister/half man. His/Her emotional rendering of the chorus “Baby please don’ t ya go” outshines even Jays wonderfully crisp and buttery harmonica solo.

Lyrics

I left my shack in the city
Searching for sun and for sand
I left my Fillipino baby
I was her only man…..and she said
Baby baby please don't ye go (x2)
But I packed my bags and headed on down the road

I left my brown leather jacket
Fillipino clothes and shoes
I sold my tapes to the pawn man
I just got those cruise line blues…..and she said
Baby baby please don't ye go (x2)
But I packed my bags and headed on down the road

And know I'm sitting here cryin
The pubs I really miss
That's why I feel like dying
Beer here tastes like piss
Baby baby please don't ye go (x2)
But I packed my bags and headed on down the road
